Refunds

General Refund Policy: Requests for refunds must be submitted in writing or by email, and must be received by FSAS seven (7) or more days before the start of the School that includes the paid-for class. For the Annual School, this means that even if the paid-for class is a Wednesday-Thursday mini-track, requests must be received seven days prior to the start of the Annual School on Sunday. Telephone or verbal requests for refunds are not accepted.

All refunds, regardless of reason for the request, are subject to a $25 Administrative Fee.  In limited circumstances, the Board of Directors may vote to waive the $25 fee.  Please contact us at operations@fsas.org if you would like to discuss your individual situation with our School Coordinator or another board member and request an exception to this policy.

Substitutions may be made for paid registrants up to the day before the scheduled paid-for training event without administrative fees or penalty. Please submit the names of the person registered and the substitute by email to operations@fsas.org

Special Additional Refund Policy for Select Courses:

In some cases, a course requires pre-ordering specific books or materials for students. In those cases, in addition to the $25 Administrative Fee, FSAS will deduct an additional Course Materials Fee to cover the cost incurred by ordering the required materials. Any course with this additional charge will be clearly identified on our website and registration forms. As with all courses, you may substitute another individual student up to the day before the scheduled course without administrative fees or penalties.

Requests to Change Courses During the FSAS School:

Students may request to transfer out of their registered course to another available course at FSAS without fee or penalty, if the request is made to the Track Dean, School Coordinator, or other member of the Board of Directors before the scheduled lunch break of the first day. Transfers into any other course are dependent on available space and the approval of the instructor(s) of the desired class. At its discretion, the Board of Directors of FSAS may authorize a refund, less administrative fees, or credit towards a future School, if the request for transfer cannot be accommodated and the student wishes to withdraw from the class for which he/she registered. Any such credit must be used within three years of date of issue.

School Cancellation:

The Florida School of Addictions  Studies (FSAS), its Board of Directors, and its contractors, including instructors and persons or organizations providing space or other material assistance to FSAS, shall not be held responsible for any delay or failure to perform obligations to the extent that such delay or failure is caused by fire, flood, strike, civil, governmental or military authority, acts of God, acts of terrorism, acts of war, epidemics, availability of facilities, or other similar causes beyond our reasonable control and without our fault or negligence. For one or more of such reasons, FSAS may postpone, reschedule, or cancel any Annual or Regional Schools without liability on our part, including liability to attendees for any damages, costs, or losses incurred (e.g., transportation, accommodation, or other financial losses). In the event of such cancellation, postponement, or rescheduling, the Board of Directors may at its discretion issue either refunds of registration fees, or credits toward future Schools. Credits must be used within three years of the date of issue.

Admittance:

The Florida School of Addictions Studies (FSAS) reserves the right at its discretion to refuse admittance or expel from a School, without refund, anyone that FSAS determines is behaving in a manner that is disruptive to the safe operations of the School, who violates the policies of the School or the hosting facility, and/or whose actions are harassing, threatening, or otherwise disruptive or interfering with the safe enjoyment of the School to any other students or instructors.

Please note that due to our insurance requirements and our agreements with our host sites, FSAS maintains the following policies:

  • Persons under age 18 may not attend or be present at FSAS.
  • Weapons are not permitted on the premises.
  • Animals, with the exception of service animals, are not permitted on the premises.
  • Tobacco products, including devices such as Vapor or E-cigarettes, may only be used in designated areas of the facility.
  • Food or drinks, with the exception of water, may not be brought into classrooms; please see the School Coordinator or other Board Member if you have a medical issue that requires accommodation to this policy.
  • Persons not registered with FSAS, with the exception of persons providing necessary assistance/accommodation (e.g., sign language interpreter), may not attend classes.
  • FSAS, its Board of Directors, and contractors are not responsible or liable for lost, stolen, or damaged personal items during School events.
