FSAS MEMBERSHIP ORGANIZATION NEWS
At the close of the 2005 Florida School of Addictions Studies, at a joint meeting of the FSAS Board of Directors and the FSAS Alumni Board and students, a mutual decision was reached for the dissolution of the FSASAA. With this decision the FSAS Membership Organization was implemented with the 2006 FSAS.
The composition of the new FSAS Membership Committee includes six (6) students and five (5) of the FSAS Board. It was voted that the chairperson of the Membership Organization Committee would always be a student member, not a FSAS Board member, and that the Membership Committee would act as a standing committee of FSAS Board to represent the Membership Organization.
The first and foremost challenge will be to determine the structure and role of the FSAS Membership Organization and the benefits that membership will offer. This organization, led by the Membership Organization Committee, will continue the work that was always the driving force of the Alumni. Raising funds for scholarships to the school will continue to be a primary focus. Innovative and meaningful fund raising efforts will grow out of the collaboration between the Governing Board, The Membership Organization Committee and the students represented.
As a student attending the 2008 FSAS, a portion of your registration fee will automatically enroll you as a FSAS Membership Organization member. Additional membership information and benefits will be made available through the Membership Organization exhibit booth and at the meeting scheduled on Wednesday, July 23rd at 5:00 p.m. We sincerely hope you will plan to attend and find our how you can be a valuable part of this effort.
We still have a limited inventory of button down polo shirts and ball caps bearing the FSAS logo. These shirts, along with books and other donated items, will be available for purchase at the June 20-24, 2008 FSAS at the Membership Organization Committee exhibit booth.
