Course Description
Building and Sustaining Effective Partnerships is about developing systems of trust, formal agreements and ways to monitor progress internal within each entity and external in the coalition/community. This involves accountability. Partnerships can be defined as an undertaking to do something together, a relationship that consists of shared and/or compatible objectives and an acknowledged distribution of specific roles and responsibilities among the participants which can be formal, contractual, or voluntary, between two or more parties (Partnership Resource Kit 1995). In a world of non-stop change and innovation, partnerships can be critical for getting things done and improving outcomes. Participants will explore why some partnerships work and others don’t and what methods of process improvement – (monitoring of partnership organization and management) and (understanding diversity in partnerships) need to be incorporated to sustain equity and accountability among all and community.
The learner will be able to:
1. Identify at least 3 characteristics of a Coalition Model
2. Identify 3 improved practices for Building Lasting Community Partners
3. Describe methods of Sustaining Relationships, advocacy and policy change
