ABOUT THE TRAINER:

Karen Garrett has over 20 years of diverse experience in behavioral health, management, consultation, and training. She is currently employed with River Region Human Services as the Senior Director of Training/Corporate Compliance; Quality Improvements, and serves as Corporate Compliance and Privacy Officer. Her extensive teaching experience includes a wide variety of audiences and topics. Currently, she is an adjunct professor for Nova University, Jacksonville Campus, a qualified instructor in the Hermann "whole brain" model, and instructor for Clinical Supervision with the Southern Coast Addiction Technology Transfer Center.

COURSE SYNOPSIS:  This course will present an overview of group theory, various types of group process, ethical considerations, development stages of a group, and various evidence-based techniques to use with addicted populations. This training includes didactic and experiential process for the participants. Participants will increase their knowledge base regarding group process, applicable group techniques, and competencies needed to perform group services in the addictions field.
