What are Plenary Sessions?

At our Annual School, we offer short 1-hour classes every morning at 8:00 a.m. for registered students to attend. Each Plenary Session allows attending students to receive one (1) additional CEU for that day.

The topics for these brief classes vary from year to year and day to day. By providing small introductions into a variety of different topics, students are exposed to subjects that will allow them to continue expanding their horizons into new fields of study. Some Plenary Sessions are significantly shorter versions of some of our most popular courses.

For additional information about these mini-courses offered at this year's Annual School, please visit the Plenary Sessions page.

What do the Course Numbers in front of the Course Names mean?

The Course Numbers (i.e. 102, 303, 205 etc) do not indicate the difficulty of the course. For example, a Level 100 Course may or may not present more challenging information than a Level 200 or 300 Course.

Course Numbers are used by the FSAS staff to designate the dates and length of a course as well as divide students into two lunch sessions (by odd and even numbered courses).

Annual School Course Numbers

Level 100 Course - A course that runs Monday - Thursday and is worth 20 hours of CEUs. A student enrolled in this course will spend 4 full days in this course. Students cannot register for multiple Level 100 courses, a Level 200 Course or a Level 300 Coruse because they are held at the same time.

Level 200 Course - A course that starts on Monday and ends on Tuesday afternoon. This type of course is worth 10 hours of CEUs. A student enrolled in this course will spend 2 full days in this course. Students cannot register for multiple Level 200 courses because they are held at the same time. Students can, however, enroll in a Level 300 Course because it is held on Wednesday and Thursday and will not conflict with Monday and Tuesday's schedule. By pairing a Level 200 and a Level 300 Course together, a student will attend all four days of the school, spending Monday and Tuesday in one course and Wednesday and Thursday in another course. In doing so, the student will earn a total of 20 CEUs and will receive a certificate for each course taken.

Level 300 Course - A course that starts on Wednesday and ends on Thursday afternoon. This type of course is worth 10 hours of CEUs. A student enrolled in this course will spend 2 full days in this course. Students cannot register for multiple Level 300 courses because they are held at the same time. Students can, however, enroll in a Level 200 Course because it is held on Monday and Tuesday and will not conflict with Wednesday and Thursday's schedule. By pairing a Level 200 and a Level 300 Course together, a student will attend all four days of the school, spending Monday and Tuesday in one course and Wednesday and Thursday in another course. In doing so, the student will earn a total of 20 CEUs and will receive a certificate for each course taken.

Even Number Courses - Courses ending with an even number will partake in the first lunch session.

Odd Number Courses - Courses ending with an odd number will partake in the second lunch session.

How do I get Credit for the Course I took?

The Operations Manager will upload your earned CEUs to CE-Broker within 1 month of your completion of the course. For the DUI CEUs, you and your employer are responsible for reporting those earned credits to the DHSMV. As a courtesy, the FSAS sends our DHSMV contact our course rosters to which they can compare the information they receive from you and your employer. The FSAS is not repsonsible for reporting DUI CEUs.

After completion of a course (during the school), either your Instructor or someone from the FSAS Staff will present you with your certificate which will show the number of CEUs and DUI CEUs you earned. Please be sure to review this document before leaving the school to ensure that the hours, course, and your name are correct. If you were unable to pick up your certificate at the school, one will be mailed to you. If you did not receive a certificate, please contact the Operations Manager as soon as possible.

How do I apply for a Scholarship and am I elligible to receive one?

and

When Should I know if I was selected to receive a scholarship?

All professionals working in the field of addictions or students taking courses to become a professional in this field and submit the properly completed scholarship paperwork before the deadline are elligible to receive a scholarship.

Applying for a Scholarship is easy. Simply print the Scholarship Application, complete it, and mail it back to us. You can also fax or email the Application, but a hard copy with your original signature must be received before the FSAS can award you the scholarship.

Scholarships are awarded on a first come, first served basis. Some private donors have specific requirements for the type of individual who receive their privately funded scholarship and those will be awarded based on the terms of the private donors and not on a first come, first serve basis.

All Scholarship Applicants will be notified no later than May 5th as to whether or not they have been selected to receive a scholarship. The scholarship award letters are mailed on May 1st and 2nd. Individuals providing an email address will receive their scholarship award letter in the specified email address.

Should a recipient be unable to attend, the next individual on the waiting list will be notified of their selection immediately. If you are unable to attend the school and you have received a scholarship, please notify the FSAS Operations Manager immediately.

The FSAS has the right to deny an individual a scholarship if that individual had received a scholarship and did not show up on the date of his/her course without contacting the FSAS.

At this time, a limited number of scholarships for the Annual School are available. For more information about the scholarship application and selection process, please visit the Scholarships main page.
