Mark Fontaine is the Executive Director of the Florida Alcohol and Drug Abuse Association. In this capacity, he participates in the development of public policy on alcohol and drug abuse prevention and treatment and is the voice for community providers who deliver substance abuse prevention and treatment services across Florida. Prior to this position, Mr. Fontaine served as Executive Director of the Florida Juvenile Justice Association.
Mr. Fontaine has worked in adult corrections, juvenile justice and the alcohol and other drug abuse field for over 28 years at the local, state, and national level. He has served as a consultant to the Department of Justice, National Institute of Corrections, the Center for Substance Abuse Treatment, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration and served on the Substance Abuse Committee for the American Correctional Association. Previous employment includes Assistant Director and Training Director for the Florida Alcohol and Drug Abuse Association and Program Manager for the National Association of State Alcohol and Drug Abuse Directors. He was also the Director of the Orlando TASC program and served as a juvenile probation officer.
Mr. Fontaine is a profesionally trained social worker and holds a Masters in Social Work (MSW) degree from Florida State University. He is a Certified Addiction Professional, Certified Criminal Justice Addiction Professional, and a Certified Association Executive. Volunteer activities have included technical assistance and training on behalf of the Florida Association for Voluntary Agencies/Caribbean Action (FAVA/CA) for the countries of St. Vincent at the Grenadines, Antigua, Barbados, Dominica, and St. Lucia. Mr. Fontaine was the recipient of a Kellog International Fellowship through Partners of the Americas.
The Florida School of Addictions Studies welcomes Mr. Fontaine to our Annual School where he will instruct this year's State of the State plenary session on the morning of Monday, July 16, 2012.
State of The State Plenary Session
Students attending this plenary session on Monday, July 16, 2012 will have the opportunity to learn about the current state of prevention, recovery, and treatment in the state of Florida.
