#1) "WORKING WITH TRAUMATIZED INDIVIDUALS-SIMPLE INTERVENTIONS THAT WORK"

TRAINER:  Kathryn Brohl
 

ABOUT THIS WORKSHOP:

Based on the presenter’s newly revised book, “Working With Traumatized Children:  A Handbook for Healing”, this 3-hour workshop will describe simple interventions to calm trauma survivors and assist in helping to regulate their emotions while delivering healing messages.  The interventions do not require and advanced degree and can be utilized in informal settings.  In addition, workshop participants will review how the brain in impacted by trauma and how it can be re-patterned to learn resiliency skills and emotion regulation.

ABOUT THE TRAINER:

Kathryn Brohl has been in private practice for 22 years.  In this time she has written many books on the subject of children, child welfare trends, molestation and the healing process.  This course is based on the presenters newly revised book, “Working With Traumatized Children”.

 

For over ten years she has served as an independent expert witness and consultant regarding child sexual abuse cases. She has been called for consultation at the following organizations.  Ten Broeck Hospital, Canadian Native American Tribes, Gateway Community Services, The Florida Department of Children and Families, Home Safe, Miami Dade Sexual Crimes Unit and many more. In 2005 Kathryn was recognized by the First Coast & Florida Times Union for her work with Child Abuse Prevention.

James Knorp has worked in the substance abuse field since 1981. He is a certified instructor in abuse and mental health. Mr. Knorp has been involved with program development, maintenance of quality improvement standards for both JCAHO and CARF, and group, individual, family and couples therapy. Mr. Knorp currently is project manager for SCATTC, Tallahassee, Florida and is a Adjunct Professor at Florida State University, School of Social Work, since August of 2002. Jim Knorp also currently serves on the Florida School of Addictions Studies Board of Directors.

These workshops are separate training events and are not included in your tuition fee for full or mini registration for the school.

The registration fee for either of the 3-hour workshops is $30.00 if paid on or before July 1, 2008, and $35.00 if paid after July 1, 2008, and does not include entrance into other events associated with full or mini registration.
